Service available at 371 Singer Mega and Singer Plus outlets
Payments collection even after Banking hours
The Western Union Company (NYSE: WU), a leader in global payment services in association with Singer Bangladesh Limited the largest electronics and home appliance retail chain in Bangladesh and Bank Asia Limited today announced the launch of their money transfer service from 371 Singer Mega and Singer Plus outlets across the country. From now on money transferred from more than 200 countries and territories across the globe can be collected from any Singer outlets at almost every corner of the country even after banking hours (until 8:00 pm).

‘’This alliance among Singer, Western Union and Bank Asia is just another example of Singer’s strategy to diversify its products and services to consumers’’, said Mr. A. M. Hamim Rahmatullah, Managing Director – Singer Bangladesh Ltd. & Regional Vice President - Singer Asia Limited. The reliability of the three brands creates the potential of transforming the Singer outlets into money transfer hubs, thus offering more convenience in collecting remittance, he added.
Mr. Rajiv Garodia, Western Union’s Senior Vice President, Middle East and South Asia said that, Western Union already has the largest international money transfer network in Bangladesh with over 12,000 locations. “We understand the importance of easy access of money transfer services in promoting financial inclusion in Bangladesh and its effect on achieving potential, personal growth and empowerment. Our collaboration with Singer Bangladesh and Bank Asia is a step forward in our global strategy to grow our touch points and provide reliable and accessible money transfer solutions to more individuals”, he said in a message on the occasion.
Chairman of Bank Asia A. Rouf Chowdhury said: “Our collaboration with Singer Bangladesh will result in reaching more consumers, making it easier for more people to access Western Union services all over the country.”
Through a comprehensive network of branches in communities with the most need, Western Union and Singer Bangladesh introduce new ways of incorporating technology to provide innovative and professional financial services to the underserved markets.

Singer AGM approves 125pc Dividend for 2013
The 34th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Singer Bangladesh Limited was held at the Spectra Convention Centre at Gulshan in Dhaka on Monday (April 28, 2014).
Shareholders of Singer Bangladesh Limited approved 125 percent dividend (Cash Dividend 100% & Bonus Shares 25%) for the year 2013.
Mr. Mahbub Jamil, Chairman of Singer Bangladesh Limited chaired the meeting. The Chairman in his address mentioned that despite of unfavorable environments in 2013, Singer Bangladesh Limited was able to maintain revenue at a reasonable level.

During the year revenue was Tk. 6,605 million and Net Income was 382 million. The Company extended its sales network by establishing new 34 Singer Plus retail Shops and 121 Dealers in different parts of the Country.
In 2013 the Company contributed Tk. 1,805 million to the National Exchequer in the form of corporate income tax, customs duties and value added tax.
A large number of shareholders attended the meeting. They highly appreciated the performance of the company and congratulated the management. They also placed their valuable suggestions towards the development of the company.
Symphony Smartphones Now Available at SINGER
Singer Bangladesh Limited has enriched its retail business by introducing some of the top global brands in Bangladesh. Now Singer is including Bangladesh’s leading mobile phone brand ‘Symphony’ in its portfolio. Symphony Smartphones and Tabs are now available at 372 Singer Mega and Singer Plus shops all over Bangladesh.
Symphony is providing the customers with all Android facilities and features in their Smartphones and Tabs at a very reasonable price. It has drawn the interest of the fast growing smartphone market. Keeping the choices and purchasing power of the consumers in mind, Singer has brought Smartphones and Tabs ranging from Tk 4,590 up to Tk. 19,990.
Initially 19 models of Symphony Smartphones and 3 models of Symphony Tabs will be available at Singer outlets. Few of the available models are worth mentioning - Symphony W 68, Symphony W 72, Symphony Z1, Symphony Z2; among the Tabs Xplorer T8q, Xplorer T7i, Xplorer T8i will be available. The smartphones and tabs are powered by Android Jelly Bean 4.2.2 operating system, they have 1.3 GHz Dual Core Processor and 64 GB expandable memory.
Moreover, Huawei and LG smartphones are also available at Singer Mega and selective Singer Plus shops.
